Michelle Parkerson

Michelle Parkerson is an award-winning filmmaker based in Washington, D.C., whose work has screened at the Sundance Film Festival, the Berlin Film Festival, and the American Film Institute. She has documented the lives of LGBTQ icon Audre Lorde (A Litany for Survival), jazz innovator Betty Carter (. . . But Then, She’s Betty Carter), international a cappella activists Sweet Honey in the Rock (Gotta Make This Journey), and legendary male impersonator Stormé DeLarverie (Stormé: The Lady of the Jewel Box). She is currently scripting a 1920s action-adventure feature entitled Lifted, which tells the story of Miss Bessie Coleman, the first Black woman pilot.
